Cosy writing nooks make a huge difference. I felt stuck in a project and this change of scenery has been so helpful. Sometimes getting past a block requires getting out of the rut. On a short walk during #CIES2023 break, I saw this beautiful vine reaching high and decorating an abandoned building with an ornate design. A flock of sparrows were feeding on its seeds. I thought of Derek Bell's Ethical Ambition. An article co-authored with Nancy Dana and James Rigney on policy advocacy received an ATE 2023 Outstanding Article Award. Thankful for my incredible co-authors! Celebrating this today not for the recognition, but for the resilience it took to keep going during the early stages of the pandemic.
